Frequently asked questions

Do I need a boating licence?

This actually depends on two factors:

  • How powerful the engine of your boat is;
  • The laws in effect at the location where you’re renting your boat.
  • Italy: up until 40 hp – No boating licence required
  • France: up until 6 hp - No boating licence required.
  • Germany: up until 15 hp - No boating licence required but restrictions apply depending on specific lake and river regulations.
  • Switzerland: up until 8 hp - No boating licence required but restrictions apply depending on specific lake regulations.
  • Austria: up until 5 hp - No boating licence required but restrictions apply depending on specific lake regulations.

We hope this helps, however, it’s always best to double-check with the boat rental location to be extra sure.

Are there any additional service costs?

We like to keep things simple, so no, there are no additional service costs. The price you’re quoted is the price you pay.

Is it possible to rent a boat with a skipper/captain?

Yes! But you’ll have to check with the rental location. They will confirm availability and let you know about pricing.

Which months are boats available for rent?

This varies from location to location. The availability of the boat should be visible when you request your booking.

What if I need to cancel my booking?

The rules vary from location to location. Before you confirm your booking, you’ll be informed of the cancellation policy for your specific rental location.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

You’ll usually be asked to pay a deposit to finalise your reservation. It’s a fairly standard operating procedure, so there’s certainly no need to worry if the rental location requests a down payment.
